Teddy: In His Own Words is a HBO documentary about the late Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy. Kennedy narrated the documentary, telling the story of his family, his political career and even the tragic incident at Chappaquiddick. The documentary includes rare archival footage and rarely seen photographs of what many call an American political dynasty. Edward (Ted) KennedyEdward Kennedy (1932 – 2009) passed away on August 25, 2009 at the age of 77. Kennedy died after a battle with brain cancer, that had been diagnosed as terminal. Ted Kennedy was a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts for 47 years and possibly has had even more influence on American politics than many U.S. Presidents. Ted Kennedy was the youngest of nine children born to Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Kennedy. His three older brothers died tragically and violently. Eldest brother, Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., was killed in combat during World War II. Elder brother President John F. Kennedy was killed by assassin's bullets in Texas in 1963. Senator Robert Kennedy, a civil rights crusader, was also killed by assassination in 1968. Ted Kennedy progressed from youngest son of a political dynasty to the patriarch of the Kennedy family, the leader through good times and bad, including the tragic death of his nephew John Kennedy. Teddy: In His Own Words Teddy: In His Own Words is the story of the last male of what is called the Camelot era.
